Sharon's first PealSharon rang her first Peal on Sunday 7th December 2008. Ringing 8-Spliced for a first peal is quite an acheivement! It was Mark's first peal of spliced. Conducted by Alan Winter (his 200th for the Ely DA), Don Morrison's 12-part composition (no. 44) with lots of singles kept us on our toes. Congratulations! |

Alan's "wrap-rounds" composition of Bob MajorThere are 8 possible "wrap-round" changes, where 12345678 appears across adjacent rows, e.g. : 65871234 56782143 :Alan constructed a tricky one-part composition of Plain Bob Major, containing all 8 possible "wrap-rounds" in a quarter peal of 1520 Plain Bob Major, which was then reduced down to 1376 by replacing some leads of Plain with Little, and rung on Sunday 27th July 2008. The composition was highly musical, including a multitude of runs on the little, middle and big bells; roll-ups and roll-downs; on the front, in the middle, at the back, and across rows too. It contains an awesome 252 runs of 4 or more bells - 140 forward runs (of 1234, 2345, 3456, 4567 & 5678) and 112 backward runs (of 4321, 5432, 6543, 7654 & 8765). Of these, 116 were 5-bell runs, 55 x 6-bell runs, 24 x 7-bell runs, and finally (of course, by design) all 8 x 8-bell runs, plus (for free) reverse rounds. |

Spliced Trumpington Surprise & Trumpington Delight Major |
Spliced Trumpington Surprise & Trumpington Delight MajorHaving rung these confidently a few times individually already, our next challenge was to splice the two together. Robert selected a robust quarter peal composition with 18 changes of method to test our mettle, which was duly scored first time on the sunny Sunday 11th May, believed to be the first time these methods have ever been spliced in a QP. A different composition, composed and conducted by Alan Winter, was used for another quarter peal in these two methods on Sunday 18th May 2008. |
